I’ve been getting requests through my email recently for tutorials. People want to know how to make web designs in Photoshop or how to make a Web form email with PHP. Every Saturday evening around 12am I’m going to be posting tutorials on web design and web development. I’ll cover languages from PHP to JavaScript to HTML and CSS, up to and including the newest technologies like CSS3 and HTML5. I’ll cover how to make web layouts in Photoshop CS5 and eventually Flash Catalyst CS5. The reason they’ll be on Saturday is because I need the evening to use my microphone. There will be a youtube channel dedicated to the tutorials, I’ll decide the name later, and it’ll be featured on this website. Artisteer

I don’t post reviews on here often, and usually when I do it’s for Adobe products I use. I was told today to design a layout for a website being run with Joomla, an incredibly difficult CMS I now know how to use. I was a little bit wary when I was told to use Joomla because I had tried once and failed to use it, but this time I picked right up on it; perhaps it’s the WordPress experience that’s helped. Well back to my point, I created two designs at once, one in Artisteer and one in Photoshop. I’m still learning how to place my PSD files in Artisteer but I have to admit, the Artisteer design is just as impressive, and it exports as a template for whatever CMS you tell it to. I would say I give Artisteer four stars out of five. The only thing holding back the five star decision is the limited number of effects and combinations it has built in, if you don’t have Photoshop experience then your designs start to look repetitive.

I made this in Photoshop CS4 off of some inspiration Luke Marohn, my partner at LukemDesigns, shared. Below will be a link to his speed design, something I was too lazy to do this time. If you don’t like it, well negative comments will make me cry, just kidding. Constructive criticism is welcome. Also, this wasn’t made from a tutorial.

I coded the first page of the gray layout. Go and check it out! I haven’t added any cool effects yet, I don’t know what I should do with it yet.

I made this to replace the minimalistic portfolio layout whenever I feel like it. I got the idea from a tutorial on Six Revisions.

Made this in Photoshop CS4 in about 2.5 hours from a tutorial.

This is today’s layout done in Photoshop CS4, have to figure out how to slice them up and make them into WordPress themes.

It took some time and work, a lot of work, but I finally got the thing up. It’s meant for my friends from school, and as soon as I graduate the rules will basically be gone, most of them. In the mean time, go check out the company site Luke and I are working on at Dream Design. Dude has skill.
